The initial idea developed out of the concept of ‘Utopia’, looking for idealistic perception of our immediate environment, room for improvement, dreaming of the solutions in deprived communities. The project started by interviewing friends and relatives about their ‘utopian view’ of their community. The collected material was then re-viewed and used as a starting point to explore those ideas visually.
Later, the group of artists led workshops with different communities to encourage people to share their views of their neighbourhood, the aim was to give them a space to imagine and dream, even if some of the resulting ideas might be hard to realise. People made leaves with their ideas on them and added them on the ‘community dream tree’.
