The Hackney Utopians Collective was created one year ago with the idea of bringing arts and community together, making art with people as a way of enabling them to rediscover their imaginations.
As an Art Collective we run a series of workshops with different communities affected by gentrification and other urban challenges.
At Haggerston Estate in 2009 we participated with the community to make "The Tree of Wishes" with the idea to create visual solutions to questions like: How can they change their neighbourhood? How is their community part of a wider society? What does it mean to live with different background communities in one neighbourhood?
